Privacy Policy
What we collect
When you use Forge, we collect:
- Account info — your name, email address, date of birth, and the training details, profile details you choose to add — like hometown, school, work, or Instagram — and photos you add to your profile.
- Gender — your gender and, if you set one, your gender preference for discovery. We use these to filter who appears in your feed.
- Phone number — if you choose to verify your phone in Settings.
- Contacts — if you choose to find friends from your contacts, your phone converts each number into a scrambled code on your device. Only those codes are sent to us — your contacts' actual phone numbers never leave your phone. We compare the codes against Forge members and discard them immediately. You can decline this and still use the app.
- Precise location — used to show you athletes, workouts, and races near you, and to calculate distance between members. You control this in iOS Settings. We also store the map coordinates of the city on your profile. Turning off location access stops live location updates, but those stored city coordinates stay until you change your city or delete your account.
- Photos and videos — profile photos, photos you send in chat, and your verification photo.
- Content you create — posts, workouts, messages, prompt answers, and reports you submit.
- Connected apps — if you link Strava, we import the activity data you authorize (pace, mileage, routes). You can disconnect at any time.
- Account identifiers — a user ID we generate to operate your account.
What we don't collect
Forge contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking software. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your personal data to anyone.
How we use it
- To match you with athletes, workouts, and races near you.
- To verify members and keep the community safe.
- To review reports and act on content or accounts that break our rules.
- To send the notifications you opt into.
Who we share it with
We share your data only with the service providers who run Forge, under contract and only as needed to operate the app:
- Supabase — database and file hosting.
- Resend — delivers moderation reports to our safety team.
- Strava — only if you connect it, and only the data you authorize.
- Apple and Google — if you use Sign in with Apple or Google to create your account.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our members.
Your controls
- Delete your account any time in Profile → Settings → Delete account. This removes your profile, photos, messages, and associated data from our systems within 30 days.
- Export or correct your data by emailing us at the address below.
- Location, contacts, photos, and notifications can each be revoked in iOS Settings without deleting your account.
Safety & verification
Forge is built around meeting real people, so trust comes first:
- Photo verification — every member takes a live verification photo before they can match. The green check on a profile means it passed review. Verification photos are never shown on your profile or to other members.
- Report & block — you can report or block any member from their profile, and report content from anywhere it appears. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours, and we remove content or accounts that break our rules.
- Blocking — blocked members cannot see your profile or contact you, in either direction.
- Location privacy — your location is used to find athletes and workouts near you. We don't publish your address or share your routes.
Retention & security
We keep your data while your account is active. Verification photos are retained while your account is active so we can re-check them if a safety issue arises, and are deleted when you delete your account. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Children
Forge is for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we delete the account.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we'll update this page and the effective date above, and notify you in the app.
